Farmers are keeping an eye on Russia for wholesale.
Vineyards in Sarıgöl are protected from extreme heat, hail, rain and hoar under canvas covers since july.
Sarıgöl Chamber of Agriculture President Ali İhsan Ülgen said, “70 thousand hectares are under cover, we will keep our vineyards under covers until late November or even late December. Tenure of these canvas covers are two to four years. We are protecting our grapes from facts of nature. The biggest market of our grapes is Russia, there is an agreement but no boom yet. Besides incentive payments per tons should be increased for exporters.”
