In his written statement, the President of the Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK), Bendevi Palandöken, stated that the annual average cost of even an unused vehicle reaches 15 thousand liras, and this amount approaches 25 thousand liras with the automobile insurance expense.
Noting that this situation increased the number of uninspected and uninsured vehicles, Palandöken demanded that the high inspection, insurance and tax amounts be reduced in order to eliminate the problem.
"5.6 MILLION VEHICLES ARE WITHOUT INSURANCE"
Underlining that 5 million 600 thousand out of 27 million 334 thousand vehicles in traffic are uninsured, Palandöken said, "Increases in inspection, tax and insurance fees cause 1 out of every 5 vehicles registered to traffic in our country to roam illegally in traffic. The amounts that the authorized institution receives from the inspection fees are quite high for the tradesmen and our citizens. Most of them cannot even pay their taxes or insurance. It is not allowed to inspect a vehicle without paying the tax debt. These fees should be reduced in order to prevent uninspected and uninsured vehicles in traffic. A 5% delay fee increase per month applied to vehicles whose technical inspection period has passed should also be applied to those who do not have a long-term payment."
