Speaking at the program he attended, President Maduro emphasized that they read the UN statement carefully and worriedly,
"The genocide against the Palestinian people has begun in Gaza," Maduro said.
Stating that Israel has committed "massacres" in Gaza many times before, Maduro said, "In Gaza, buildings where civilians live are being hit indiscriminately, everywhere is being bombed, and women and children are dying every day. I call out to all my Muslim brothers, Christians and Jews around the world, let's call on the UN for an immediate ceasefire."
Maduro said that peace negotiations should begin as soon as possible and that an independent and sovereign Palestinian State should be established in a way that respects UN resolutions.
Reminding that the Palestinian people have been subjected to all kinds of tyranny and discrimination for years, Maduro said, "The UN issued a mandatory resolution for its implementation in 1967. According to the decision, the borders drawn for Israel and the State of Palestine would be respected, and Jerusalem would be the capital of Palestine, but all governments that came to power in Israel constantly violated this decision."
Maduro asked the new generation to look at the history of Palestine.
"Persecution, blockade and injustice have been going on for years. If you look at the map, you will understand how Palestine's lands have been taken away over the years. They divided the Palestinian lands into two parts. International media does not want to see this," Maduro added.
