Making a press statement about the 2022 FIFA World Cup, one of the most important sports organizations in the world, Saadet Party GIK Member Assoc. Dr. Necmettin Çalışkan made important statements. Reminding the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Turkey, Çalışkan said, “We missed a great opportunity and we could not use it in any way like Qatar. When we look at the clothes under with shorts upper with headscarf covered on television screens, Islamic solidarity games, so to speak, were like the 'photo of this period'.”

A press release regarding the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar came from the Saadet Party. In the press statement made by Saadet Party GIK Member Assoc. Dr. Necmettin Çalışkan, attention was drawn to the importance of the fact that the FIFA World Cup, one of the most important sports organizations in the world, was held in a Muslim country for the first time. Necmettin Caliskan, made comparisons with the 5th International Islamic Solidarity Games organization held in Konya by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation recently and the world cup held in Qatar, which ended with Argentina's championship.

“HEROIC EXPRESSIONS”

Reminding the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Turkey, Saadet Party GIK Member Assoc. Dr. Necmettin Çalışkan said, “We missed a great opportunity and we could not take advantage of this opportunity in any way like Qatar. In fact, we witnessed scenes that turned against us and made us say that it would be better if it had not been done. When we look at the clothes under with shorts and upper with headscarfs covered on television screens, the Islamic solidarity games, so to speak, were just like the ‘photo of this period’. Those who did not speak about the unpleasant images experienced in the organization in Konya accused Muslims of being instruments of immorality through the tournament in Qatar. Looking at the subject objectively is more than not being able to determine the issue correctly. The intentions should be questioned as well as the heroic expressions that do not go with them."

“IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR BOTH QATAR AND THE ISLAMIC WORLD”

Stating that the sports organizations held are opportunities, Necmettin Çalışkan said, “Despite all the negativities, hosting the World Cup was important for both Qatar and the Islamic world. It not only laid the groundwork for the preaching of our faith, but also contributed to the correction of the negative Muslim image that was created in the West and served to the world. Since Qatar is an Islamic country, more than a million people of different ethnicities, cultures and religions who entered the country had the opportunity to get to know Islam so closely for the first time.”
