Speaking at a campaign reception in California, Biden suggested that Xi's reaction to the downing of the Chinese "spy balloon" that entered American airspace in February was "not knowing it was there".

"I am serious. It is a great shame for dictators when they do not understand what is happening," Biden said.

Biden said that Xi was "embarrassed" when the balloon was shot down in American airspace and "didn't even know it was there".

The most important point is that he is currently in a situation where he wants to re-establish a relationship.

Biden said that Foreign Minister Antony Blinken did a "good job" during his visit to China, but on the other hand, he said it will take time for relations to get better.

The US President also noted that China has serious economic problems and commented, "I mean, worry about China, but don't worry about China."

Expressing that the Chinese President is also uncomfortable with the Quad alliance between the USA, Australia, India and Japan, Biden said that Xi called him and asked them not to do this.
