The Turkish Statistical Institute has published the "international migration statistics" for 2022.
Accordingly, the number of people who migrated to Turkey decreased by 33.2 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year and became 494 thousand 52 people. Of these, 52.9% were men and 47.1% were women.
Of those who came to Turkey from abroad, 94,409 were Turkish citizens and 399,643 were foreign nationals.
The number of people migrating abroad from Turkey was recorded as 466 thousand 914 in 2022, an increase of 62.3 percent compared to 2021.
55.7 percent of this population consisted of men and 44.3 percent of them were women. It was determined that 139 thousand 531 of the population who went abroad from Turkey were Turkish citizens, while 327 thousand 383 were foreign nationals.
THE HIGHEST MIGRATION IS IN THE 25-29 AGE GROUP
When the immigrants who migrated to Turkey in 2022 are analyzed by age group, it is seen that the 25-29 age group ranks first with 12.2%. This was followed by the 20-24 age group with 11.7 percent and the 30-34 age group with 11.3 percent.
Looking at the age groups of the population immigrating from Turkey, it was determined that the highest number of immigrants was in the 25-29 age group with 15.8%. This was followed by the 30-34 age group with 13.4% and the 20-24 age group with 12.8%.
ISTANBUL RECEIVED THE MOST MIGRATION
When the distribution of those who migrated to Turkey in 2022 by provinces is analyzed, Istanbul was the province that received the highest number of immigrants with 35.4 percent. Antalya was followed by Antalya with 14.8 percent, Ankara with 5.4 percent, Bursa with 3.9 percent and Mersin with 3.8 percent.
Considering the distribution of the population migrating from Turkey by provinces, it was seen that Istanbul was the province with the highest number of immigrants with 39.5 percent. Ankara was followed by Ankara with 9.8%, Antalya with 6.7%, Samsun with 3.4% and İzmir with 3%.
