While participating in the funeral processions of six al-Qassam members who were killed by an Israeli blast on Saturday, Haniyeh said that Hamas thwarted hundreds of Israeli threats and plots aimed to undermine the security and life of the Palestinian people.

“Those six fighters sacrificed their lives to protect the people of Palestine and their resistance  after undergoing a complex security operation to neutralise a decade-long Israeli spy system that was built and placed by the occupation”.

Haniyeh said that this is an on-going open battle with the occupation, stressing it will continue until the siege on Gaza is broken and Palestine is liberated.

The top Hamas leader described those who fell while on duty as the “unknown soldiers” who work day and night to protect the lives of the Palestinian people from the imminent dangers posed by the Israeli occupation.

“The blood spilt from the six fighters who were killed is not cheap and we will retaliate appropriately because any loss of life on our side cannot be ignored or taken lightly,” the Hamas chief vowed.

“Our security forces in the Gaza Strip are brought up on dignity princples and they are patriots that they do not believe in the security collaboration with their enemy nor do they stab the Palestinian resistance in the back,”  Haniyeh reiterated.

Hamas' military wing Al-Qassam has said that it will reveal the full details of the complex operation to the public soon.
