"Hak-İş" Confederation Provincial Presidents Meeting was held in Ankara yesterday.

Making the opening speech of the program, which will continue today, "Hak-İş" Chairman Mahmut Arslan made a remarkable call regarding the income tax deducted from wage earners.

Arslan stated that they found the decision of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission to convene positive for a second increase in the minimum wage.

"Due to the problems in the economy, the wage received in January lost its meaning. It is imperative that this loss be remedied. All wages should also be an arrangement that will increase them," Arslan said.

Stating that the structure of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission should also be changed, Arslan noted that the level of representation should be increased.

CALL FOR TAX EXEMPTION

Emphasizing that other measures should be taken to protect against inflation in addition to the increase in all wages, especially the minimum wage, Arslan made the following call:

"The exclusion of all minimum wage income from taxation is a historic step. This step needs to be expanded. Until this extraordinary period is over, all wage earners should not be taxed for one year."
