New debate on sugar factories in Turkey

The fall in the SBS quotes has been shown! the issue is not "improving public health" and "increasing beet production" but rather "favoring" SBS companies in the US!

The government is preparing to reduce the SBS quota by 10 per cent to 5 per cent on the grounds of "increasing public health and sugar beet production," while the other side is also preparing a "fuss" for American SBS firms. 1.5 years ago the Milli Newspaper's effective publications were re-emerging because of the reaction of the public in the end. Immediately after the privatization of the sugar factories, glucose will be given to the SBS firms without quota by "removing the sugar definition"!

The AKP government, which has increased the quota of starch-based sugars in the last 15 years when the country does not need it, reduced the quota of starch-based sugars from 10 percent to 5 percent with a sudden decision at a time when sugar factories were being sold. Citizens were not happy with the quota decision, which is an important step for healthy sugar consumption and sugar beet production.

THE GOVERNMENT BRINGS GLUCOSE TO AGENDA AGAIN

The government re-enacted the issue of putting out the scope of the quota for glucose, which it had been trying to do with the draft of the Law on Manufacturing Reform Package 1.5 years ago but had to step back because of public reaction. However, before the sale of sugar factories came to the fore this issue would be forced to sell the sugar factories because of the public reaction, so the change in the related facts was left after the sale of the factories. By an arrangement to be made in the Sugar Law after the privatization of 14 sugar factories which the Privatization Administration has put out to sale, glucose can be produced without removing it from the definition of sugar and subject to quotation.

FRUCTOSE BEEN SOLD AS GLUCOSE

Since glucose is included in the quota and glucose in the fructose is also sold in the market as glucose syrup, the equivalent fructose of sugar beet can also be produced indirectly. With the amendment made in the Sugar Law, American companies Cargill and Amylum will increase their dominance in the sugar market. While it is not possible for 8-9 of the 14 sugar factories sold to be able to continue to produce in the private sector, 11 sugar factories, which TÜRKŞEKER does not sell for sale, will suffer a great blow as production integrity will deteriorate without this privatization. The sugar market will go to the hands of two American companies, Cargill and Amylum, in order for the "beet bloc" to break down in the sugar market due to hasty privatization.

NOW WE GET THEIR SILENCE

The SBS lobby, which claims 10 per cent of the SBS quota is not sufficient, and that it does not react to the quota of 5 per cent of the quota every year, also confirms the studies to be taken to include the glucose quota. The Association of Starch and Glucose Producers (NUD), Cargill and the Adana Farmers Union claimed that every year there was a shortage of glucose, and they lifted it to the point where the phrase was. However, today the 10 percent quota is not enough to demand the increase in the quota SBS lobisinin, 5 percent of the cottage to be dropped to 5 percent, even if no explanation was not to make a statement.

SBS QUOTA LOWERED TO GET MORE PROFITS

The government's initiative to exclude glucose from the quota is a major contradiction to the decision to reduce it to 5 percent of the NBS quota. While the so-called SBS quota is claimed to be reduced to increase the health and beet production of the people, SBS companies will be provided with a great privilege that has not been seen until today, with the glucose being excluded from quota coverage. On the other hand, the study of excluding glucose from quota strengthens the claims that lowering the NBS quota to 5 percent is taken to reduce the public reaction to the sale of sugar factories.
