A Palestinian teenager was killed and another six injured Friday evening during clashes between protesters and Israeli soldiers on the borders of Gaza, according to a Palestinian official.
Israeli soldiers shot dead Abdel Rahman Abu Hamaisa, 16, on the eastern border of al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza Strip, Hamas-run Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said in a statement.
According to al-Qudra, another six Palestinians were injured as a result of the Israeli occupation forces firing intensively on demonstrators.
Palestinians from Gaza occasionally demonstrate near the border with Israel in protest against the siege of the Gaza Strip.
Israeli forces prohibit Palestinians in Gaza from entering the area adjacent to the border with a distance of 300 meters, terming it a "buffer zone", and shoot or arrest anyone that enters it.
The Israeli army uses tear gas, live bullets and rubber bullets to suppress Palestinian demonstrators who react by throwing stones and Molotov cocktails.
