Members of the Consumer Rights Association came together in Ankara and made statements against the economic difficulties.
In his speech, Association President Turhan Çakar drew attention to the fact that a significant part of the population lives under the poverty and hunger line.
"Hunger and poverty have exploded from the price hikes and high prices that continue to pour like rain. The purchasing power of the overwhelming majority of the people is not enough to meet their basic needs," Çakar said.
Çakar underlined that the income distribution in the country also had an impact on what happened.
"Today, income distribution in our country is for the benefit of a handful of capital and against the overwhelming majority of the people. For this reason, leaving the people hungry and poor for the benefit of capital is a crime against humanity. The children of families with incomes below the poverty and hunger line cannot be fed and cannot develop. Inadequate and unbalanced nutrition causes unhealthy living and diseases," Çakar added.

Turhan Çakar, who also made a call for retirees, said, "The wages of retirees and employees should be raised above the poverty line. Policies to eliminate hunger, poverty and unemployment should be put into effect immediately."
