President of the Pensioners Association of Turkey, Kazım Ergün, said that the retirees could not afford to wait until the end of the year, and demanded an improvement of 8 thousand 77 liras to their pensions as soon as possible, which would be reflected in the root wage.
Kazım Ergün, Chairman of the Turkish Pensioners Association (TÜED), said in a written statement that they were happy to take steps to provide economic relief for minimum wage earners, civil servants and public workers.
In this process, Ergün stated that millions of retirees are looking forward to the steps to increase their salaries.
"The incomes of minimum wage earners, civil servants and public workers increased. Millions of retirees continue to receive the same pension. Retirees who buy the same bread at the same market for the same price and have to live on 7 thousand 500 liras for a month are in a very difficult situation. Unfortunately, our retirees do not have the opportunity to continue their lives in a healthy way," Ergün said.

Kazım Ergün reminded that as TÜED, they want the lowest pension to be raised to the minimum wage level and an additional 4 thousand liras to be paid for those who receive monthly income over 7 thousand 500 liras, at least 25 percent.
Stating that his calls in this direction remained unanswered, Ergün said, "Despite all our well-intentioned efforts and our demands to rectify this mistake, the economic burden should not be placed on our pensioners, widows and orphans. Retirees do not have the strength to wait for the end of the year. In this process, we are revising our demand for a raise, taking into account the price hikes from fuel to taxes, from medicine to bread. We want an improvement of 8 thousand 77 liras to the pensions as soon as possible, which will be reflected in the root wage."
