Disabled teachers cannot be appointed. The suffering of disabled teachers who have been waiting for appointment for months is increasing day by day. Disabled teachers, who were left vacant due to insufficient appointments despite their high scores in the Disabled Public Personnel Examination (EKPSS), expected an appointment to be made in the past months. While there was no appointment despite the expectation, the number of teachers with disabilities awaiting assignment increased day by day. Disabled teachers, who told the Milli Gazete about the difficulties they experienced, are trying to make their voices heard by the authorities.
“DESPITE THE DIFFICULTIES, I FINISHED MY EDUCATION WITH A BEAUTIFUL AVERAGE”
İ.A., who is a patient with hemophobia, explained the problems he experienced and said, "I always had to grow up behind my peers, I would say the best profession to be a teacher so that there would be no active bleeding, my only dream in the last year of university was EKPSS, I took my formation and completed my education in a good average despite all the difficulties. I'm done with it. I couldn't be appointed with 76 points in 2020, we struggled, we got points, in the end I only got disappointment. I write as the voice of all my friends. We want to do our duty, to be a power source to our children as the people who know the difficulties of life best. Let this year be our year, no one should prevent disabled teachers."
“WE DON'T WANT TO WAIT MORE”
M.E., who was 26 years old and was 50 percent visually impaired from birth, stated that he could not be appointed despite the 80,21 points he received from EKPSS, and said, “I have been waiting for an appointment for 2 years. I want to spend my most productive time not sitting at home, but shining as a light for my students. Barriers should be removed as soon as possible and teachers with disabilities should be appointed. We are getting more and more crushed under the destructive weight of waiting and uncertainty. As teachers with disabilities, we don't want to wait any longer.”
