Families who use their children to make money on social media have long drawn the attention of the government.
Derya Yanık, Minister of Family and Social Services, made a presentation to the members of the Digital Media Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, and said that they established a Social Media Working Group to monitor the issue.
Minister Yanık stated that the group monitors social media 24/7 with nine separate teams.
"We are after content that will negatively affect the development of children and harm them. When we see negative posts, we activate the relevant institutions. The faster we get results, the sooner we reach our goal. But digital platforms have the capability of rapid movement. A video can be seen around the world in 10 seconds," Minister Yanık said.
THE MINISTRY'S EFFORT IS ALSO INSUFFICIENT
Derya Yanık, Minister of Family and Social Services, stated that they established a Social Media Working Group to follow up on the issue.
"The group monitors social media 24/7 with nine separate teams. We are after content that will negatively affect the development of children and harm them. When we see negative posts, we activate the relevant institutions. A video can be seen around the world within 10 seconds. Unfortunately, recently, parents have started marketing their children as commercial products. This is an exploit. When we catch someone, we shut them down. Ten minutes later, we see, they opened an account with a different name," Yanık added.
