A new one has been added to the "U" turns of the government in foreign policy. Within the process that started two years ago, Turkey's harsh attitude, which stood as an obstacle to the European country Sweden's NATO membership, was replaced by a surrendering attitude.
Sweden's NATO membership was accepted in the Parliament with the approval votes of the ruling party AKP, the main opposition party CHP and the People's Alliance partner MHP.

Among the opposition parties that opposed Sweden's admission to NATO, Saadet Party, İYİ Party, Democrat Party, Re-Welfare Party, HUDA-PAR, Turkish Workers' Party, Democratic Left Party and DEM Party were among the parties that voted "no".
USA pleased with "Sweden" decision
The US administration stated that it was pleased with the approval of Sweden's NATO membership in the Turkish Grand National Assembly and that the sale of F-16s to Turkey was in line with the national security interests of the US, Turkey and its NATO allies.
