Social media, which has been expanding its sphere of influence since the beginning of the 2000s, has become a medium where 70 percent of Turkey's population is actively present as of 2021. According to a study conducted by We Are Social, the daily viewing rate in the virtual environment in Turkey is more than 3 hours. Only Youtube is watched for 1 billion hours a day all over the world. In addition to all these, the interest in live broadcasting platforms is growing. Twitch, which is the largest live broadcasting platform and attracts attention especially with its video game broadcasts, is watched 1.54 billion hours a month in Turkey. Research showing that we have become addicted to phone, computer and tablet screens reveals how dangerous the visual threats in the digital world have become.
 

INCREASING INTEREST IN DIGITAL PLATFORMS

 
With the coronavirus, the whole world has been closed for a while, and the interest in digital platforms that are opened with new names every day has increased. According to a study conducted in Turkey, users spend 14 hours a week watching movies, TV series and documentaries on digital platforms. Inspections for the content of digital platforms, which cause concern especially with their productions in the field of sexual deviance, drugs, crime and fear, are almost non-existent. Unlike television, there is no censorship on issues such as sexuality, alcohol and violence on digital platforms where objectionable content is frequently featured. It is not known when measures will be taken against moral disinformation caused by digital platforms, whose users are mostly young people.
 

YOUTUBE WATCHED 1 BILLION HOURS DAILY WORLDWIDE

 
Youtube, which has become more watched than television today, has caused many phenomena to enter our lives. Youtube, which is the virtual platform where phenomena are followed the most, is watched for 1 billion hours a day all over the world. According to a study conducted by We Are Social, 58 percent of Youtube users in Turkey watch videos for fun, while 47 percent watch them for learning. In addition to these statistics, Youtube, which has become a serious source of income, is full of nonsense made to be watched. Youtube, which has become an easy source of income for young people and children, has revealed a business called 'Youtubership'. The virtual danger that affects half of Turkey's population, including 19 million children and 22 million young people, Many lawsuits have been filed in Turkey because of objectionable content posted on Youtube, and investigations have been launched against hundreds of Youtubers.
 

LIVE PLATFORMS CAUSE GAME ADDICTION

 
Live broadcast platforms, which have developed rapidly in recent years, are becoming increasingly common among young people. In addition to social media applications such as Facebook and Instagram that allow live broadcasting, a live broadcasting platform called Twitch is watched for approximately 1.54 billion hours in Turkey. Twitch, which draws attention especially with its broadcasts for computer games, receives 140 million unique visitors in our country every month. Live broadcast platforms that trigger game addiction are blocked in many countries due to their effects on children. Twitch, which is the subject of a research conducted by Business of Apps, revealed that the number of active users in Turkey is more than 1 million.
