Stating that in the village or traditional city, the unemployed and unemployed found a place of refuge with solidarity, Gencer said, “With the transformation of cities into metropolises, we lost the traditional solidarity mechanism, and we could not switch to a modern solidarity mechanism that will provide shelter to orphans”.

The harsh conditions of winter have begun for the homeless, whose number reaches 70 thousand and 10 thousand in Istanbul.

We continue to carry the problem of homelessness, which is deepening gradually, to Milli Gazete in all aspects with the arrival of the winter season.

In the second part of our file, we talked to sociologists who are experts in their fields to solve the problems of our neighbors who make the streets their home.

Yıldız Technical University Department of Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Bedri Gencer and Sociologist Necdet Topçu made important statements to our newspaper.

"THE MODERN HUMAN HAS LOST THE HOUSE AND CITY IN A HISTORY UNSEEN"

Yıldız Technical University Department of Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Bedri Gencer pointed to the modern world of today and said, "Modern-capitalist society is essentially a society that is against the nature that tears people from their homes. According to the micro and macro couple meaning of the word 'home=home', there are two manifestations of homelessness in the modern world. The loss of the family as a micro home and the city as a macro home. Unprecedented in history, the fate of modern man has been to lose his home and city. For the first time in Britain in the 19th century, modern homelessness started when the mother who built the nest and her children started to work like slaves in the factories when it was mentioned that "the female bird makes the nest".

Stating that homelessness is becoming more widespread, Mr. Gencer said, "According to sociologist Peter Berger, when modernization, the product of capitalism, is a state of homelessness that is getting deeper, socialism can be seen as a promise of a new home. But the communist system has deepened aside from resolving the homelessness crisis with larger factories and farms. With the transformation of cities into metropolises, people also lost the city as a macro home. "Even if someone was unemployed and unemployed in the village or in the traditional city, they would not be homeless, they would find a place of refuge."

"WE LOST THE TRADITIONAL SOLIDARITY MECHANISM WITH METROPOLES"

Mr. Gencer said, "With the transformation of cities into metropolises, we lost the traditional solidarity mechanism, we could not switch to a modern solidarity mechanism that would provide shelter to orphans and unemployed people. The result is that homeless and unemployed people in metropolises fall into the streets. The increasing waste of bread on the one hand and the increasing homelessness in metropolises, like the example of people looking for bread in trash cans on the other, are typical examples of the contradictions that lie at the heart of modern society,"

Sociologist Necdet Topçu stated that social problems are growing exponentially all over the world and said, "One of the social problems is our homeless people struggling to survive in big cities and metropolises. Although the problem is a problem of humanity, of course, there are interlocutors regarding the solution of the problem. While this problem is socio-cultural and economic, this problem also has indifference aspects arising from the administrations. We've met often; in parks, subways, mosque courtyards, tower bottoms etc. "They find a solution here in their own way to the fact that our people are staying overnight or being homeless".

"THE HOUSEHOLD SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEMS IMMEDIATELY"

Saying that state administrators should take serious steps to solve social problems, Necdet Topçu said, "Besides the government, local governments and NGOs should urgently solve the problems of the homeless by supporting them. Some solution suggestions that can be applied; Dormitories and similar organizations that are idle due to the epidemic are ideal and healthy places for the homeless. A food card should be issued with food support for the homeless. The relevant ministry should provide psychological support and family counseling services to the homeless. Local governments should support them by providing spatial coordination. With psychological help, homeless people should be supported in adapting themselves to life. Free health and treatment should be provided to those who are addicted to drugs."
