Saadet Party Hatay Deputy Assoc. Dr. Necmettin Çalışkan held a press conference at the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

Saadet Party Hatay Deputy Necmettin Çalışkan held a press statement in the Parliament. He made statements about Hatay, which was heavily damaged by the February 6 earthquakes.

Speaking about the latest situation in Hatay, which was destroyed with heavy damage due to the earthquake, Çalışkan said, "It is stated that at the end of this month, 3 thousand houses will be delivered to their owners in Hatay, where there is a shortage of 350 thousand houses. But there is no information about who they are. Are the persons to be delivered determined by the list sent from the party or in the presence of a notary?"

“PROBLEMS IN HATAY STILL NOT SOLVED”

Emphasizing that the problems experienced in Hatay have not decreased even though almost a year has passed since the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, Felicity Party Hatay Deputy Necmettin Çalışkan thanked the public and non-governmental organizations working for the normalization of Hatay.

Çalışkan stated that the work in Hatay is progressing slowly.

"Today, there is a confusion of authority in Hatay. There is a dispute between Hatay Metropolitan Municipality and AFAD. Due to this dispute, thousands of earthquake victims are experiencing problems. One of Hatay's most important problems is power outages. The electricity company imposes meaningless and unjustified outages exceeding 12 hours a day. In container cities, heating, water and electricity are connected. Naturally, our people have a serious housing problem. One of the important problems in Hatay and the earthquake zone is related to the reserve area. We still do not know what it means to declare certain areas as reserve areas. It is said that all the buildings in the reserve area will be demolished. So why did you call these buildings medium damage buildings? Why did you allow people to make repairs and shelter in their homes? There is no explanation for such a lack of seriousness and foresight. It is stated that at the end of this month, 3 thousand houses will be delivered to their owners in Hatay, where there is a shortage of 350 thousand houses. But there is no information about who they are. Are the persons to be delivered determined by the list sent from the party or in the presence of a notary? The order of priority will be determined accordingly," Çalışkan said.

“SALARIES OF ACADEMICS SHOULD BE IMPROVED”

Arguing that loan payments should be postponed for another year due to the earthquake, Çalışkan underlined that the tradesmen in the region should be supported until their living conditions return to normal. Expressing the problems of academics in the press release, Çalışkan continued his words as follows:

"There has still been no improvement in the salaries of academics. It seems that there is no preparation for this in the new budget. Considering that there are around 200 thousand academics in our country, it is clear that the salary increase will not have any negative contribution to the budget balance. The raise you will give to 200 thousand academics is less than a few minutes' interest expense. Academics are struggling to survive under the influence of rectors who have become a fiefdom. Moreover, while public personnel who start working in a public institution continue to work unless they leave voluntarily or retire, the only exception is academics and seasonal workers. Academicians are among the contract workers that are renewed every year. This is one of the biggest shames our country can experience."
