Felicity (Saadet) Party Konya Deputy and Head of Youth Branch Abdulkadir Karaduman made a written statement regarding the teaching profession law that was discussed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA). Karaduman underlined that the said regulation unfortunately does not bring any solution for the teaching profession and teachers, and said, “There is no scope for the teaching profession in this law proposal. There are no teachers working in private education institutions in this bill. There is no solution for contracted teachers, which you said will be abolished in this bill. In this bill, there is no regulation regarding the practice of 'paid teaching', which is a clear usurpation of rights. There is no career planning for teachers in this bill. This bill has nothing to do with school and institution administrators. Unfortunately, this bill has not been a professional law. This proposal consists of distracting the public in the presence of teachers for a possible snap election or a timely election.”

“CONTRACTUAL TEACHING SHOULD BE REMOVED”

Expressing the Saadet Party's suggestions within the scope of the teaching law, Karaduman underlined that the regulation should be reconsidered, "Contracted teaching should be abolished and all teachers should be made permanent. Teachers should be given the right to appoint to appropriate positions in order to ensure family unity. Teachers' training and development programs should be prepared comprehensively. Necessary arrangements should also be made for teachers working in private education institutions. Private school teacher wages should be brought at least to the level of public teachers' wages. Return to work and notice pay rights should be arranged. The practice of 'paid teaching', which has been transformed into a form of employment, should be abolished and teachers should be appointed to these positions,” he added.
