According to the statement made by the association, ÖĞ-DER Headquarters Promotion Commission, which organizes short film script competitions on different subjects every year, determined the theme of the competition this year under the title of ‘being disabled’. The Chairman of the Association, Hamdi Sürücü, whose views were included in the statement, noted that with this year's competition, they aimed to bring screenplays with the theme of ‘being disabled’ to the cinema and to support the script writers.
Sürücü stated that they both wrote and filmed the short film scripts that won awards in competitions in different fields from addiction to family, immigration and migration to education, adding, “Everyone is also a candidate for disability. That's why, as a society, the most powerful way we can provide empathy in order to support the disabled people in this regard is the cinema,” he said. In the competition, short film scenarios that touch on or work on the theme can be written in drama style.
The deadline for the submission of scenarios, in which all kinds of issues involving issues they encounter such as friendship of disabled and non-disabled individuals, disabled people's problems from education to functioning of daily life, and the society's view of disabled people towards the disabled, can be addressed, was set as until October 22. Details about the competition can be found at www.ogder.org.
