While it was stated that no age limit would be applied in the enacted EYT regulation, the proposal to regulate the gradual bonus day was rejected by AKP and MHP votes.
The legal regulation on Retirement Age Victims (EYT), which millions of citizens have been waiting for, was passed in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and became law.
While the age limit was abolished in the approved bill, those who meet the conditions of premium day and insurance period other than age will be able to receive a monthly salary and 2 million 250 thousand people will be able to retire in 2023.
The opposition's proposals regarding the proposal to regulate the number of gradual premium days as 5 thousand days were rejected by the votes of the AKP and MHP deputies.
Gönül Boran Özüpak, President of EYT Federation, reacted to this situation. Expressing that the EYT regulation is a restitution, Özüpak said, "Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, stated in his past speeches that anyone who has completed 5,000 premium days can retire. Despite these promises, it is a shortcoming for us that the proposals regarding the gradual bonus day arrangement were not accepted. Here, new grievances will arise due to the premium day. Even though the Retirement Age Recession is over in its current state, there is a Prime Retirement Recession next."
1.3 MILLION VICTIMS INDEBTED
Expressing that the victims were prepared for retirement by borrowing money, with the statements made by the Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Bilgin in the past, Özüpak stated that new grievances have occurred.
"Following the publication of the law in the Official Gazette, pensions are expected to be given in March, with its circulars reaching the SSI. In this process, monthly pensions could be taken in January, it caused a loss of 3 months. In this process, there are approximately 1 million 300 thousand victims who have been indebted by relying on the Minister's words about premiums. These victims believed that 5,000 would be sufficient in the premium. Why was such an arrangement not made?" he asked.
“THE MONTHLY AMOUNT SAYING TO US 'YOU WILL WORK TILL YOU DIE”
Expressing that the struggle will still continue, Özüpak drew attention to the low level of pensions.
"The lower limit for monthly connection rates was determined as 5 thousand 500 TL. But it is not possible to live with this number. These figures tell us that even if you retire, you will work to the grave," he stated.
