A total of 16 PKK terrorists were killed, and three planned terror attacks thwarted across Turkey between Oct. 24 and Oct. 31, according to an Interior Ministry statement Monday.
The statement said that ongoing anti-terror ground and air operations also led to the capture of five other terrorists, one of whom was injured, while seven others surrendered to security forces.
The security forces also thwarted PKK’s plans to carry out three terrorist attacks, including one bomb attack, the statement added.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU. It resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, PKK terrorist attacks have martyred more than 700 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 8,000 PKK terrorists were killed in military operations.
