One soldier and one security guard were martyred in an attack by PKK terrorists near road construction in the southeastern Turkish province of Sirnak on Sunday, a security source said.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media, said four security guards were also injured during the PKK attack on security personnel who were protecting construction taking place on the highway between Sirnak province and its Cizre district.
The source stated that the wounded security guards were taken to the hospital.
An air-supported operation in the region was launched to find the terrorists, the source added.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015. Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians.
