Two soldiers were martyred and five others injured in fresh clashes Thursday with PKK terrorists in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province, according to a security source.
The source, who asked not be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media, said, “The clashes occurred in the Guvendagi neighborhood of the Cukurca district. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.”
He added, “An air-backed operation to apprehend the terrorists continues.”
The PKK, also listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the EU, resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, PKK terrorist attacks have martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists have been killed in army operations.
