REACTION BY WORKERS

The government's offer of a daily raise of 3 liras for nearly 700,000 public workers was reacted by the workers. Türk-İş and Hak-İş, representing the workers' side at the bargaining table, evaluated the offer as far from the realities of the country and unacceptable. On the other hand, in the proposal submitted in May, the workers' side demanded that the lowest gross wage of the public worker be increased to 4,800 TL, 20 percent for the first 6 months for 2021-2022, inflation + 3 percent for the other 6 months.

“THIS OFFER CANNOT BE ACCEPTED”

Türk-İş Financial Secretary General Ramazan Ağar, who is conducting the negotiations on behalf of the Türk-İş Confederation, said that the proposal did not meet their demands.

"We did not expect such a low offer. It is not possible for us, representing the workers' side, to accept this offer submitted on behalf of our employees. Currently, more than 315,000 workers in the public sector are working with low wages and trying to make a living. We are waiting for a proposal to rectify this situation," he said.

"The offer is at a point where it cannot be evaluated"

Osman Yıldız, Deputy Chairman of Hak-İş Confederation, evaluated the ministry's offer as low.

"There is a serious difference between our offer and the ministry's offer. As such, the offer is at a point where it cannot be evaluated. We hope that after the feast, our ministry will make a comprehensive evaluation in response to our proposal in detail. Together with the Türk-İş Confederation, we will evaluate the proposal and continue on our way," he said.
