Health and Social Service Workers Union (Sağlık-Sen) shared the April results of the Violence in Health Report they prepare every month with the public.

In the report, it was noted that 27 healthcare workers were subjected to violence in 15 violent incidents that took place throughout April. In the report, which underlines that three out of every four healthcare professionals have been subjected to at least three types of violence, "The transmission rate of the Covid-19 virus, which wreaked havoc on healthcare workers, does not reach 25 percent. In other words, the rate of violence in healthcare workers is much higher than the rate of virus transmission. Because healthcare professionals can take their own precautions against the pandemic; however, it is not possible for them to take any measures against violence," it was said.

JUSTICE SACRIFICED FOR PERSONAL INTERESTS

In the report in which the violence committed by a prosecutor in Osmaniye was described as tragic, "The protagonist of the violence incident is a prosecutor and insults the doctor, who enters the examination room without an appointment, reminding him to wait for his turn, and then has him detained. A prosecutor who is obliged to operate the justice mechanism on behalf of the nation can destroy the health chain in an instant by sacrificing the right and the law to his personal interests. It was announced that the Council of Judges and Prosecutors started an investigation against this prosecutor; however, as in all similar cases, the result of the investigation was not made public," it was said.

THERE IS A HEALTH ARMY THAT IS VICTIM OF VIOLENCE

Commenting on the report they shared, Health-Sen President Semih Durmuş, "We are talking about a health army that is victim of violence. It should not be forgotten that the duty of these people is to distribute healing. For this reason, it is no longer enough to oppose violence, to condemn, to produce discourse. In order to prevent violence, a social struggle involving 84 million people should be started. For this, the authorities must immediately implement an action plan to prevent violence," he said.
