The staffing arrangement for the contracted employees was announced by President Erdoğan after the cabinet meeting. According to the statement, in the cadre arrangement for contracted persons, there will be a transition to the cadre in case of working as a candidate civil servant for 1 year with a contract for 3 years. Thus, while the contractual staff arrangement that Memur-Sen Confederation has been focusing on for years resulted in the right to staff, Memur-Sen Confederation Chairman Ali Yalçın pointed out that the indefinite contract will be history and said, “As a result of our struggle, 424 thousand contracted staff will meet with the staff.”
EXPECTATIONS TO BE STAFFED IN CERTAIN PERIODS WILL END
Yalçın, who made explanations about the arrangement regarding the transition of the contracted workers to the cadres, reminded that the works on the transition of the contracted persons to the cadre for years and then that it was governed by the 6th Term Collective Agreement, said: “With our contribution and efforts in all, 424 thousand the contracted personnel will meet with the staff and the indefinite contract will be history according to 657 4/B. In the public sector, the expectation of being recruited with indefinite contracts in certain periods will come to an end, and 227 thousand contracted personnel who have completed their term will be employed directly.”
THE FIGHT TO END THE TERM CONTRACT WILL CONTINUE
Pointing out that the works carried out by Memur-Sen Confederation will continue, Yalçın stated that he will continue to work for the termination of the temporary contract, like the indefinite contract, and said, “As Memur-Sen Confederation; Our insistence and struggle that the main type of employment in the public sector should be single and permanent will continue. We will continue our efforts and struggles so that the term contracted practice will be a thing of the past.”
