Five people were killed in a plane crash in Puerto Carreno, western Colombia early Wednesday.
Colombia’s Civil Aviation Institution said a Boeing 727-200 cargo plane crashed three minutes after it took off from Puerto Carreno, close to the Venezuelan border, en route to the Colombian capital Bogota.
The authorities said only one of the six people on board survived the crash. A statement added the cargo plane belonged to the Aerosucre air transportation company. An investigation into the cause of the crash has begun. A plane crash last month near Medellin in Colombia’s northeast took the lives of 71 people, including 16 members of Brazilian football team Chapecoense.
