While the collective negotiation process that started between the government and the unions continued, the retirees went down to the square. Retired Memur Sen members of the Memur-Sen Confederation came together and shared their demands with the public. Retired Memur-Sen Chairman Ali Küçükkösen pointed out that 39 percent of retirees work full-time to make a living, and 33 percent work part-time.

Retired Memur-Sen operating under Memur-Sen made a press release to defend the rights and interests of retired public officials, to increase their rights, to protect the law and to share the demands and expectations of retirees from the 6th Term Collective Agreement with the public.

Retired Memur-Sen Chairman Ali Küçükkösen stated that they have made undeniable contributions as workers and retirees of Turkey, who have served their nation and country by shedding the sweat of their brow and mind, "In Turkey's troubled and painful times, we have more than taken our share and our right from the burden. Retirement is inevitable for every employee. Retirement is also an employee's dream. Because for the employee, retirement is a new production, the implementation of the postponed plans. For this reason, the retiree is not the person whose job is finished, but the person whose responsibility for doing business is over. It should be treated as such," he said.

POLITICAL WILL CANNOT CLOSE IT'S EARS TO INFLATION NUMBERS

Emphasizing that 39 percent of retirees work full-time and 33 percent part-time to make a living, Küçükkösen emphasized that the gap between their pension and the salary they earned during the working period was closed in this way.

"According to Memur-Sen's June 2021 research, the hunger limit of a family of 4 has increased to 2.801.6 TL and the poverty line to 8.003.1 TL. As can be seen, the hunger limit has unfortunately risen to the level of the minimum wage. The message of this table to the workers; It is 'don't retire'. Inflation data where monthly inflation is 1.80%, 2021 January-July inflation is 10.41%, and twelve-month inflation is 18.95%; The 6th Term Collective Agreement gives a clear message to the political will that they cannot close their eyes and ears. Inflation continues to erode salaries and incomes and to reduce purchasing power," he said.
