The Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer made a promise before the 14 May elections regarding the reduction of teaching service periods included in the "Career Steps" regulation, which came into force with the Teaching Profession Law.

The educators union (Eğitim-Bir-Sen) drew attention to the exam schedule announced before the promise was made and underlined that there would be grievances with the exam that will be held before the regulation takes effect.

The "Career Steps" regulation, which was brought together with the Teaching Profession Law, continues to come up frequently.

Before the elections, the Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer promised to reduce the teaching hours in the regulation, while the exam schedule for the "Career Steps" exam was published.

A written statement has been published by the union regarding the publication of the exam schedule.

In the statement, the promise was reminded by drawing attention to the victimization that will occur.

AFTER THE ELECTION, THE WORK WILL BE SENT TO THE ASSEMBLY

In the published statement, it was stated that criticism and suggestions regarding the Teaching Profession Law continued to be expressed, and it was underlined that it was frequently mentioned that the application regarding the terms of service in the "Career Steps" application should be reduced.

Reminding the promise of Minister Özer on the subject, "Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, in his statement before the election, stated that they had completed the legislative work to reduce the length of service required for specialist teaching to 5 years and for head teacher to 10 years, and that the work would be sent to the Parliament after the election," it was stated.

PERFORMING IT WITHOUT REGULATION WILL CAUSE NEW VICTIMIZATIONS

In the statement that drew attention to the fact that the legal regulations and promises were not sent because the Assembly had not been opened yet, it was stated that the exam schedule was announced.

"The announcement of the career ladder application and exam calendar, without considering the mentioned legal regulation and promise, disappointed the expectant teachers. Initiating the application process without waiting for the legal regulation will result in the inability of the candidates who do not meet the term of service required in the current legislation to apply, thus not being able to benefit from the regulation pending the new Parliament, causing them to suffer," the statement added.
