On the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted on 20 November 1989, an event was organized in collaboration with the Orphan Foundation, the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, the International Refugee Rights Association and the Earth Children's Association. The event, which was held at the Orphan Foundation Headquarters in Fatih, Istanbul, started with a press release. In a press release by representatives of the organizing institutions, he called on the United Nations to take action for children in the war zones, complying with the convention adopted 30 years ago.
 

THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CHILD IN ALEPPO AND A CHILD IN PARIS

 
Hüsamettin Orhan, Deputy Chairman of the Orphan Foundation made the first statement and said, "Violations of children's rights are increasing every day in the world due to wars and epidemics. The United Nations (UN) needs to take a more active role in protecting children in war zones, especially in Syria. According to the UN's 2018 data, 70.8 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide. 5.7 million people from Syria, where war has prevailed, spread to different countries around the world as refugees, of which about 45 percent are children, and during the war around 500,000 Syrian children remained orphans. There is no difference between a child in Aleppo and a child in Paris in terms of the beauty he will bring to the world for us."
 

SOME STATES VIOLATED UN CHILD RIGHTS CONVENTION

 
The President of the International Refugee Rights Association, Abdullah Resul Demir said, "The Convention on the Rights of the Child, which was signed and ratified by 197 countries in the United Nations, is the most agreed agreement. However, some states have violated this convention and the UN has failed to intervene. Syria because of the war in recent years, most immigration among countries which has more than 1.7 million child refugees in Turkey, " he said
 

5 MILLION CHILDREN DIES OF HUNGER EVERY YEAR

 
Abdullah Muhammed Islam, Vice President of IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation said: "There are 152 million child laborers in the world and 5 million children die of hunger every year. NGOs, as well as states, need to do their part. The implementation of laws on the protection of children is of great importance in order to ensure a healthy and qualified future for the world's societies."
 

WE HAVE A LONG WAY, AND NEED TO COMBAT

 
Betül Ünlü, Project Coordinator of the Earth Children's Association said, "Since 2016, we have been working on children working as refugees. We touched the lives of many children in three years. We are currently involved in 311 children and 96 children have been trained in various workshops. We have a long way to go and we have to fight. In this way, we teach our children the most fundamental rights of love and compassion."
 
After the press release, paintings of children from 3 continents and 13 countries were exhibited within the scope of the Orphan Foundation's Paintings of Dreams project, followed by various activities for orphan children.
