Ali Yalçın, Chairman of the ‘Memur-Sen’ Confederation, addressed the government in the statements he made in a program he attended in Şanlıurfa. Yalçın called for an additional raise to civil servants until January 15, 2022.

“CIVIL SERVANT’S SALARY MELTED”

Stating that the salaries of civil servants experienced a great meltdown with the fluctuations in the economy and the increase in exchange rates, Yalçın said, “The government that sees the economic picture and raises the minimum wage should also see the civil servants and increase their purchasing power. There are many options for raising civil servants' salaries, such as equal raises, welfare shares, proportional tax base raises, tax exemptions. The government should exempt wages equal to the minimum wage from income tax, only the minimum wage should not be exempted.”

“ADDITIONAL RISE SHOULD BE GRANTED ON JANUARY 15 AT LATEST”

Stating that the only way not to crush the civil servants against inflation is an additional raise, “We have the titles of additional raise, additional indicators, cadres for contractual workers, and the teaching profession law. Based on the decision we took in the Collective Agreement, we should not delay on the issues we agreed to come together after the minimum wage and start working, and we should make an additional hike in the January 15 salary,” Yalçın added.
