Mahmut Arıkan, Deputy Chairman of Saadet Party, touched upon the issues on the agenda at the press conference he held.

While wishing that the Hijri New Year celebrated on Saturday will bring goodness, abundance and peace to all humanity, he reminded the attacks on the cemevis in Ankara on Saturday.

"We are aware that these attacks are aimed at the efforts of different segments of society to live together in peace and harmony. Even if some people don't want it, we will continue to protect our will to live together more than ever," Arıkan said.

Pointing out that the decree-law process, which emerged with the state of emergency that started after the coup attempt on July 15th, still continues despite the 6 years since the coup, Arıkan stated that the government sees the coup attempt as a blessing from God.

"At the end of July, according to the news circulating on social media, the information that thousands of dismissals were made from public institutions came to the fore. While it is expected that our country will normalize, respect fundamental rights and freedoms more, and become a complete rule of law after the suppressed 15 July Uprising, we are witnessing the opposite practices every day. If it is done in time, a few days before the temporary article 35 of the Decree Law No. 375 will be repealed, the dismissal of thousands of public employees on the eve of the June 2023 elections, although the exact number is not known, is the pinnacle of unlawfulness," Arıkan added.

“APPLICATION DECISION IS NOT MEETING THE DEFICIT AND EXPECTATIONS”

Speaking about the exams applied in every field, Arıkan stated that exams trigger depression in young people.

"Our young people, who are getting old almost at the beginning of the exam, are asking for a job. 'If the appointment will not be made, the employment opportunity will not be provided; Why do these departments in the university exist?' Unfortunately, all the years of effort in our country depends on the decision of the appointment that will come out between the lips. Yes, the appointment decision is made. Especially near the election. But this decision neither meets the gap in schools nor meets the expectations of our young people waiting to be appointed. The state cannot be governed by incompetence," Arıkan stated.

“INABILITY TO PREVENT UNEMPLOYMENT CANNOT BE SOLVED BY HIDING BEHIND EXAM”

Reminding the exam fees that Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) collects from the candidates for each exam, Arıkan stated that the income obtained with the collected money has reached serious figures.

"If Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) earns 3.3 billion TL in 5 years with the exam fees it receives from millions of students every year and breaks records after a record, then there is a problem in this business. It cannot be tolerated that our young people are victimized by Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS), their hopes are exhausted, they fall into depression and are driven to suicide. The inability to generate employment and prevent unemployment cannot be solved by hiding behind KPSS. High scores in KPSS cannot be evaporated by interviews that lack conscience, compassion, merit and justice," Arıkan said.

“WITH THIS LAW, INEQUALITIES THAT WILL INJURY THE PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS WILL DEFINITELY ARISE”

Referring to the Law on the Teaching Profession, which has been on the agenda for a long time, Arıkan pointed out that the law that was put into practice was prepared at the desk without asking the essential components of education, and underlined that no problem was resolved with the law.

"This law has been prepared without taking into account the rights and demands of teachers and trade unions. This law was enacted by the government despite the criticism of teachers and unions. While the Constitutional Court process was continuing, the regulation was published and the implementation of the teaching career steps process started. It is of great importance that the Constitutional Court speed up the decision process in order to stop this unfair process as soon as possible. The regulation of this law, which connects unacceptable career steps such as the abolition of candidacy, expert teaching and head teacher, to not being punished, was also enacted at full speed. With this law, it is certain that inequalities that will hurt the public conscience will arise," Arıkan added.
