Emphasizing that the tradesmen could not afford the electricity bills, the President of the Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK), Bendevi Palandöken, said that the gradual bill did not provide any benefit to the tradesmen.

"Unfortunately, increasing the level to 210 kWh in the gradual tariff did not benefit our tradesmen, since our tradesmen consume at least 800 kilowatt-hours of electricity," he said.

TRADESMEN ARE GOING TO HAVE DIFFICULT TIMES

Palandöken stated that with the price hikes in all areas, the backs of the shopkeepers were bent.

"While the increases in many items, especially the hikes in fuel, have already forced our tradesmen, the electricity bills that are more than the rent have become unpayable. Our tradesmen, whose restructuring has deteriorated due to the accumulated debts, are going through difficult times," he added.

SPECIAL TARIFF SHOULD APPLY TO CLIENTS

TESK Chairman Bendevi Palandöken, who also brought up a proposal regarding electricity hikes, said following words:

"Therefore, the hikes in electricity should be withdrawn. A special tariff should be applied to the tradesmen. At least for a certain period of time, subsidizing these increases has really become the biggest expectation of our tradesmen."
