Mahmut ARSLAN, Chairman of HAK-İŞ, "As HAK-İŞ Confederation, we stand by our nation with all our strength and with our unions in order to heal the wounds of the earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş and affecting 10 of our provinces. In AFAD Coordination, we support search and rescue activities in the region with our HAK Umut team. We are also trying to heal the wounds of earthquake victims with our aid trucks, which consist of basic necessities such as tents, generators, blankets, sleeping bags, water and food," he said.
Mahmut Arslan, Chairman of HAK-İŞ, made a written statement.
"As HAK-İŞ, we rushed to the aid of earthquake victims from the very first moment of the earthquake. Our HAK Umut team, the search and rescue team of HAK-İŞ, became one of the first rescue teams to reach the center of the earthquake under the coordination of AFAD. Our 30-person HAK Hope team continues its search and rescue efforts in Kahramanmaraş with great effort. Our HAK Hope team has so far saved 8 people from the wreckage and transferred them to hospitals. Leyla Akçam, who was pulled out of the rubble by our HAK Umut team at the 70th hour of the earthquake, became a hope for the search and rescue teams and Turkey. Our HAK Hope team became the pride of HAK-İŞ in the earthquake area, and the hope of the earthquake victims like its name. Even though the critical hours have been reached, the good news we have received shows that there is still hope and we do not lose hope for a moment," he added.
AID CAMPAIGN ALSO STARTED
Announcing that they have also started a charity campaign, Arslan said, "As HAK-İŞ, we stand by our nation with all our strength and with our unions. Today is the day of helping and solidarity, the day of unity. Once again, we wish God's mercy on our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake, our condolences and patience to their families, and a speedy recovery to the injured. It is our greatest wish that our citizens who are under the rubble are reached as soon as possible and that they are rescued safely. We wish the best of luck to all the volunteers who work hard in the region, especially the search and rescue teams. Our prayers are with all our teams and citizens in the region. May Allah protect our country and nation from earthquakes and similar disasters."
