‘Diyanet-Sen’ (Turkey Religion and Foundation Officials Union) Chairman Mehmet Ali Güldemir, who made a warning just days before the New Year, pointed out that gambling activities are made widespread everywhere at the beginning of the New Year and said, "The whole of society is being used as a tool for the gambling disease by adding the word national to the beginning of gambling."

“WE ENCOUNTER IN EVERY STREET”

Reminding that it is forbidden to operate a casino in Turkey, Mehmet Ali Güldemir stated that, under the name of National Lottery (Milli Piyango), it causes people to encourage gambling in every street corner and grocery store, "It is forbidden to operate a casino in our country. Gambling should be banned while casinos are banned. You do not run the casino, but we are faced with a gambler on every street corner, especially in big cities, in grocery stores, markets, kiosks, peddlers. We can also count a number of games of chance," he added.

“SOCIETY SHOULD BE RESCUED FROM GAMBLING PROBLEM”

Stating that citizens are brought closer to haram under the name of the National Lottery, Güldemir pointing out that gambling ruined people’s psychology by causing them to dream of making free money instead of earning as a reward of people’s efforts-labour, “I think we need to save societies from this disease that accustoms people to freebies and lazy convenience. This responsibility is primarily our duty. I don't find it right to make the lottery legal by putting word of national on head of it in this country where you have de facto banned casinos. While casinos are banned, gambling should also be banned," he said.
