The Israeli court rejected the objection to the construction of an elevator in the Ibrahim Mosque in Hebron, the occupied West Bank.

Palestinian lawyer Tawfeq Jahshen said that the objection to the elevator construction was being discussed at the Israeli Central Court in Jerusalem. Noting that the appeal was rejected, Jahshen said, "The decision was made within 24 hours after the submission of the appeal. Normally, decisions take days, even months".

Jahshen stated that this showed that the decision was political. The Palestinian lawyer said that the authority for building permission for the Ibrahim Mosque belongs to the municipality of Hebron and that the authority responsible for restoring the historical houses in the region, including the mosque, is the El-Halil Zoning Committee, and that he will carry the decision to the Israeli Supreme Court and demand that the construction of the elevator be stopped.

THE PURPOSE IS TO JUDAIZING THE MOSQUE

Hamas spokesperson Abdullatif Al-Kanu stated that the approval of the construction of an elevator in the mosque by the Central Court was aimed at Judaizing this place and was an open attack on Muslim holy places. Kanu emphasized that racist Zionist policies towards the holy places and the Palestinian lands would not give Jewish settlers any legitimacy on these lands.

When Baruch Goldstein, a terrorist Jew, opened fire on Palestinians who were praying in the Ibrahim Mosque on February 25, 1994, 29 Palestinians were martyred and more than 150 people were injured. The mosque was closed under the pretext of the attack, known as the "Ibrahim Mosque massacre" in history, and when it was reopened, it was divided into two, more than half of which was allocated to Jews.
