However, Netanyahu seems to be only manipulating rather than proposing a realistic plan to alleviate the Palestinians’ suffering under the Israeli-imposed siege on Gaza. The following reasons support the aforementioned opinion:
First: The Netanyahu-led government isn’t apt to propose a plan to improve the humantarian situation in Gaza, as it’s notorious for taking its decisions under intense and continuing pressure, which makes Netanyahu’s stubborn nature different from all his predecessors.
Even in the eyes of the Israeli settlers, he’s ill-famed for his ability to continue managing the status quo, just like how he’s tackling the humantarian crisis in Gaza, in a way that serves his interests.
Second: Many rumors have been circulating a long time ago concerning Netanyahu’s plan and his frequently declared intentions to ease the Palestinians’ suffering under the siege imposed on Gaza by his government, but such rumors were spread by the Israeli security and military levels. There are no indications on the ground that Netanyahu’s plan is realistic, as the Israeli political level is known for stalling for time when it comes to decision-making.
If Netanyahu’s claims about making progress in his proposal were true, we would witness a breakthrough in two major issues: securing a prisoner swap deal with the Palestinian resistance and overcoming the Palestinian Authority’s opposition to achieve the Palestinian reconciliation. Since we haven’t seen any signs of progress in the aforementioned issues, we questioned whether Netanyahu has made progress in his plan, or even if he submitted one in the first place.
Third: Netanyahu is notorious for his propaganda campaign to mislead his people and buy some time, which came as part of his desperate bid to curb the Palestinian resistance’s determination to respond to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and secure a ceasefire with the Palestinian resistance that has been ever since on a high alert to repel any Israeli aggression on Gaza.
However, there’s a slight possibility that Netanyahu’s plan may be put into action only if the Palestinian resistance convey a message to the Israeli Occupation that its manipulation techniques have been disclosed and the Palestinian resistance will act if its people’s minimum requirements, the foremost among them is the siege imposed on Gaza to be lifted, are not met.
