Conscious Teachers Association (ÖĞ-DER) made a regional meeting. Association's General Chairman Huseyin Mutlu, "domestic models are needed for our education." he said.
Hüseyin Mutlu stated that continuous criticism did not solve the problems and stated that they had made constructive suggestions on each platform as ÖĞ-DER. There is a need for a local model in education. The name of the Turkish national education system is not national. It is a Western system of Western values. The existing system doesn't match our values. It is necessary to make changes in the content, not in the form of our education system. Our education system must be rescued from the influence of EU norms, the Fulbright Commission and the John Dewey Report.
ÖĞ-DER President Hüseyin Mutlu listed his suggestions for solutions to the problems in the education system as follows: c Serious and qualified guidance should be given to vocational high schools. Sufficient allowances should be given to all educational institutions without the discrimination of basic education and secondary education. In order to train qualified teachers, the schools of teachers should be brought to life and hay National Education Academy should be established. The curriculum of our national and spiritual values should be prepared separately and provided as a national consciousness course.
