Mahmut Arslan, Chairman of "Hak-İş" labour union, made important evaluations about the problems in the economy.
Arslan noted that due to the problems experienced in the economy, it has become impossible for low-income and fixed-income citizens to make a living.
Arslan pointed out that the recent high price increases have negatively affected all segments of the society.
"Turkey is going through a difficult time. We have gone through these difficult times in the past. We know that today's high inflation, high cost of living and low wages are a big problem for employees. We reiterate our request for a new additional raise in addition to the collective bargaining agreements made for the solution of these problems," Arslan said.
"WE ARE EXPECTING TAX REDUCTION"
Arslan also underlined that the deductions made from the wages of the employees should be kept at low levels.
"We demand that all wage earners be exempted from income tax at a certain rate. Just as a limit has been imposed on rents in this crisis period and this limit will continue for a year, millions of workers who are victims of this economic fragility and high inflation should be relieved by taking a certain amount of tax, at least for a certain period of time," Arslan added.
