United Nations (UN) Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese clearly expressed the situation in Palestine, which some circles in our country cannot yet understand.
Emphasizing that according to international law, Israel cannot claim the right of self-defense against the threat coming from the occupied lands, UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine Francesca Albanese stated that Israel has committed a war crime in itself and built 300 colonies in the occupied Palestinian lands.
PALESTINIANS FACE AN “EXISTENTIAL THREAT”
Making a statement at the Australian National Press Club regarding Israel's attacks on Gaza, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Palestine Francesca Albanese emphasized that, according to international law, Israel committed "war crimes that must be held accountable."
Stating that Palestinians face the most important "existential threat", Albanese said, "Israel cannot claim that it has the right to self-defense against a threat emanating from a territory it occupies."
The UN suffered its greatest political and humanitarian failure
Criticizing the international community for being almost "completely paralyzed" in the face of this crisis, Albanese pointed out that there is a very real concern that Israel could "commit genocide against the Palestinian people."
"The UN has experienced its biggest political and humanitarian failure since its founding", Albanese said.
“ISRAEL BUILT 300 COLONIES, WHICH IS A WAR CRIME”
"War crimes were being committed before October 7. When widespread and systematic, this is not just a war crime but a crime against humanity. Since 1967, Israel has built 300 colonies in occupied Palestinian territory, a war crime in itself," Albanese added.
