The Conscious Teachers Association (ÖĞ-DER) held its monthly Branch Heads Meeting in Ankara, Başkent Teachers' House with wide participation.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Chairman Hamdi Sürücü stated in his speech that the main problem of the education system is imitation and talked about the inadequacies regarding the professional law.
Sürücü also reacted with harsh words to Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Özgür Özel's statements regarding pre-school education.
“FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM OF EDUCATION IMPACTING”
Sürücü, who mentioned the importance of education at the beginning of his speech, "Although the main issue of education is compatible with the belief, morality and culture of the nation, we always emphasize the imitation of those outside of us, the West. Due to the disease of imitation, our own uniqueness and originality are not sought in education. While constantly saying that education should be saved from imitation and suffering from the lack of any work on this issue, the deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of the main opposition cannot tolerate what exists," he said.
“NEED A LAW TO RELIEVE THE PROBLEMS”
Sürücü, adding that this is not an occupational law, "The difference between permanent and contract teachers should be eliminated. Employee rights should be regulated in paid teaching, which is an exploitation of labor, and paid teachers should be given wages that can easily make their living. Their insurance should be paid in full monthly, their wages should not be deducted during official and compulsory holidays. An occupational law study should be carried out to solve the problems as a whole," he said.
“IN THE WEST, BELIEF AND CULTURE ARE TEACHED IN A LANGUAGE ACCORDING TO THE CHILDREN'S LEVEL”
Sürücü reacted to CHP's Özel's statement and said, "With his words, he declared how disconnected he was from the nation and how unaware of the past of the nation. You should also ask; Physics and mathematics are taught in which pre-school education institution in the West, which the whole world calls! In the West, which he admires, his own beliefs and cultures are taught in a language according to the level of children. Why do they feel uncomfortable with the teaching of their own religion and culture to the children of the Muslim nation?"
“PROFESSION LAW IS FAR FROM SOLVING PROBLEMS”
Sürücü, who also made evaluations about the 'Teaching Profession Law' submitted to the President of the Assembly, "We saw that the draft law is far from solving teachers' professional problems. The bill is about only two issues rather than being a professional law. The draft does not include issues such as teachers' personal rights, duties and powers, problems, assignments, and relocations. There are no teachers working in the private sector, contracted and paid teachers," he added.
