There was a call from non-governmental organizations on the ugly images that emerged regarding religious values.
Muhittin Yıldırım, Chairman of the Association of Religious Officials, said in a statement on the images that have emerged in many places regarding religious values in recent days, “It is the choice of each person whether to believe or not. This is true. However, it is not anyone's right to insult people's sacred values. Kicking the Qur'an for whatever motive is, to say the least, impudent and a great indecency. How can the sons of this nation, who have served Islam honorably for more than a thousand years, commit such indecency? Forgive us, O Lord. For the future of our country to consider the responsibility of the education system, which is implemented together with the administrators who raised this young man, should be examined and measures to be taken before it is too late!” he said.
DİYANET-SEN WARNS ABOUT “PROVOCATIVE GAME”
Religious Officials Union (Diyanet-Sen) Chairman Ali Yıldız, on the other hand, drew attention to the fact that the posts in the media that show disrespect for religious values are out of context and aim to provoke. Yıldız said, “Do not use our young people in your ugly plans. The game you want to play is very clear. To create chaos through religious values. Nobody should come to this game.” Yıldız stated that the social media posts were not a coincidence and added, “The unpleasant images that emerged show that our schools and our youth are trying to be material for the chaos environment. Dear young people, the apple of our eyes, the guarantee of our future, do not come to such games, which are clearly intended to stir up trouble, provoke the society, and create an atmosphere of chaos. The distance of the images from their context, especially by taking them and spreading them through social media, reveals these clearly.”
CALL TO THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION
Stating that it is worrying that religious values are being attacked especially in schools that should be a science center and young people without hesitation, Yıldız said, “I invite our Ministry of National Education (MEB) and our families to duty. The officials of the Ministry of National Education should examine and analyze the events very well. Necessary measures should be taken to prevent such incidents from happening. The biggest responsibility falls on families. Never allow your children and young people to be used. We all need to be prudent and act with common sense. We should not allow our religious values to be insulted in the name of freedom of thought, nor should we allow our youth to be toys in the hands of malicious people.”
