The Meeting of Branch Presidents of the Conscious Teachers Association (ÖĞDER) was held at the EBS Hotel in Ankara with wide participation. Speaking at the opening of the meeting, ÖĞDER Chairman Hamdi Sürücü made important evaluations.
Sürücü said that the first semester of the first half of the school year will end soon, but the problems still persist.
"There is still a shortage of teachers. This year, the teacher shortage will be completed before it is completed. The content problems of education and training still continue. The problems of teacher training, lack of teachers, security problems and devaluation of teachers still continue," Sürücü said.
"THE CONTENT OF EDUCATION IS NOT IN THE MINISTRY'S BUDGET"
Reminding that the Ministry of National Education's (MEB) budget has started to be discussed in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Sürücü said that the budget is mostly aimed at investment and employment, but the issues concerning the content are not included in the budget.
"There is no mention of work to be done to improve the education system. It is said that the teacher is the basic element of education, but there is no mention of a study on teacher training," Sürücü added.
“THIS LAW SHOULD BE CHANGED”
Sürücü, who also listed his criticisms about the text that was legalized under the name of the Occupational Law, "How can a law that does not regulate all matters of teachers' personal, administrative, social and economic rights, whose content only includes career steps, becomes a professional law? The name of this law should be changed and a new professional law should be made that provides solutions to all the problems of teachers," he said.
“IN EDUCATION, EQUIPMENT IS HIGHLIGHTED, THE CONTENT IS IGNORED”
“There is talk of an increase in enrollment, but no mention is made of the quality of education in schools,” said Sürücü, adding that no effort was made on the content of education.
"As has been done for twenty years, investment and equipment are highlighted, and the content and quality of education is overlooked. Education should be given importance to raising good people, and efforts should be made to train people with good morals, compassion and merit," Sürücü added.
