As the most striking example of this, the speech of Felicity (Saadet - SP) Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey 20 years ago stands as an exemplary document.
ON BEHALF OF THE SAADET PARTY GROUP, SİVAS DEPUTY TEMEL KARAMOLLAOĞLU:
Mr. President, Mr. Members of Parliament; I respectfully greet you all. Today, I am standing before you to exercise our right that arises from the speech of the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs on the events that took place in Palestine.
I would like to start my words by reading a short excerpt from the letter written to the Israeli press by Doctor Shlomo Shwelzman, who immigrated from Poland to Israel, escaped from the Warsaw Nazi camps, and went on a hunger strike to protest the Israeli forces bombing Beirut in August 1982:
“As a child, I suffered a lot of fear, hunger and humiliation as I passed through the labor camps in the Warsaw ghettos. Today, as an Israeli citizen, I cannot accept the systematic destruction of cities, towns and refugee camps. I cannot accept that people are bombed, destroyed and killed by technological savagery. Today, I hear so many voices reminding me of those days; voices with a raised tone thanks to the harp. When I hear the term 'dirty Arabs' today, I remember the word 'dirty Jew'. I hear the term 'closed areas' today and remember ghettos and concentration camps. I hear the expression 'bipedal animals' and remember the expression 'untermenschen', 'undeveloped human'. I hear the words 'throttle the siege', 'clear the territory', 'beat cities to surrender' and I remember pain, suffering, destruction, death, blood and massacres. So much of what I saw in Israel reminds me of many atrocities from my childhood.”
These words belong to a compassionate Jew who experienced the Nazi persecution and immigrated to Israel. The following statements in David Ben-Gurion's memoir in 1948 clearly reveal the brutality mentality that caused this outcry. Ben-Gurion wrote in his memoir, “Whether action is necessary should certainly not be questioned. It's not enough to blow up a house. What is required is to react ruthlessly and harshly. We have to be careful about timing, target and casualties. If we know the family, we should hit it mercilessly. Women and children should not be distinguished; otherwise, the reaction will not find its place. There is no need to discriminate between the guilty and the innocent in the action zone,” he says. These words belong to a person who is the prime minister of Israel.
These massacres reached their peak in 1982. In the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps, unarmed Palestinian men, women and children were systematically murdered one by one. The main responsible for that massacre was Israeli Prime Minister Sharon, who ordered the massacre today. This massacre earned Sharon the title of "The Butcher of Beirut" and now one of the Belgian courts is holding him accountable.
What lies behind these events? Israel is a state established on the land of Palestine in 1948 by a resolution of the United Nations; It has continuously expanded its territory with subsequent wars. To remain a spectator to the murders committed by Israel today means to support Israel and to endanger Turkey's future. Do not forget that Israel was founded on Ottoman lands, and the promise of the establishment of Israel was given with the Balfour Declaration during the First World War.
Israel is an ideological state. The name of this ideology is Zionism. It was established to fulfill the requirements of the Jewish faith. According to this belief, Israel's expansion policy will continue until all of the promised land, known as the mawud, is occupied. For this reason, Israel declared to the whole world that it would never withdraw from the occupied territories and did not accept the United Nations resolutions on this issue; however, let's not lose sight of the fact that some of Turkey's lands are included in these lands, including the GAP region. Those who see this as impossible just need to remember the beginning of the 20th century. In those days, no one in the world saw that this would be possible, except for a handful of Zionists; But now we are face to face with the facts. To achieve this goal, Israel does not hesitate to do anything.
Today, Zionism has an effect on the games played on Turkey. I can even say that Zionists lie behind the Armenian genocide allegations. Otherwise, what is the business of the so-called Armenian genocide museum inside the Jewish Holocaust museum in Washington in the United States?
My dear friends, in the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, the Golan Heights and vast Palestinian territories were occupied, and the Palestinians' homes were recklessly destroyed. The United Nations did not recognize this invasion and has so far taken more than seventy resolutions condemning Israel. Palestinians are struggling to reclaim their unjustly occupied lands and to protect their destroyed homes. Israel declares these people terrorists. How can people who fight to protect their own land, their own homes, be defined as terrorists? (Applause from the Saadet Party, DYP and AK Party rows) The real terror is attacking people who try to protect themselves with stones and sticks with tanks, planes and helicopters. Today, Israel has become a complete terrorist state; It insists on not listening to United Nations resolutions and Security Council resolutions. (Sounds of "Bravo" from the SP rows, applause) The power of this sassiness, unfortunately, comes from the United States of America. Unfortunately, with the support it gives to Israel, Turkey is also a partner in this brutal and brutal operation of Israel.
This blood must be stopped immediately. The Government of the Republic of Turkey is in a position to discourage the United States and Israel from this atrocity. The attitude of the government since yesterday, unfortunately, is insufficient. The only thing Israel, Sharon, will understand is force.
From Arafat, who was besieged and deprived of all means to meet his needs, the Israeli government wants the suicide attempts to be stopped; Arafat, on the other hand, declares that he expects martyrdom. Where would terrorism be fought?
Today, Israel is breaking international law; It does not comply with the United Nations resolutions, it commits genocide. He took the Nazi genocide as an example, and even developed it.
All the people living in Palestine have lived under terror all their lives, they do not know any other way of life. It is possible to condemn suicide attacks; but it is impossible to describe the state of mind of desperate people who have lost everything, lost their homeland, land, house, job, relatives, mother, father, children, children, who have lost hope for their future in this world, and who are desperate. What about the state massacre, state terror, which is carried out without regard to children, in order to ensure the continuation of their atrocities?!
I said, my dear friends, there is much to be done. All agreements with Israel to date should be suspended. (Sounds of “Bravo” from SP and AK Party desks, applause)
If we want to be effective, first of all, the tank modernization tender with Israel must be cancelled. (Applause from SP and AK Party desks) This tender is already dubious. It was signed despite the opposition of the experts and the general manager who opposed the tender. The general manager, who did not accept this, resigned.
Second, military agreements with Israel should be suspended. Especially the Anatolian Eagle Exercise, which will be held between April 15-30 and in which Israeli and US planes will participate, should be canceled immediately! (Applause from SP and AK Party desks) We don't want to see these killer planes, their pilots bombing innocent people, in Turkey. (Sounds of “Bravo” from SP and AK Party desks, applause)
As a final measure, Turkey should openly declare that it can review diplomatic relations and recall its ambassador to Israel. However, these steps may - perhaps - deter Sharon from present-day massacres.
THE PRESIDENT - SIR, THANK YOU...
TEMEL KARAMOLLAOĞLU (Continued) - Thank you, Mr. President.
We, here today, cannot get around this by simply denouncing the arrogance of a journalist in the United States, with words. For three years, for four years, we have insisted; Turkey is taken under a political mortgage by borrowing. When responding to a journalist's words, simply responding verbally will not solve our problem. We await the government's response. He must actually do this, literally gag the words that came out of that arrogant mouth, and prove to the whole world that he is not a pro-Israel! (Sounds of “Bravo” from Saadet Party rows, applause)
My respects to all of you. (Applause from the Saadet Party, DYP and AK Party rows)
THE PRESIDENT: Thank you, sir.
