Conscious Teachers Association (ÖĞ-DER) held its 6th Ordinary General Assembly in Başkent Teachers' House. ÖĞDER Chairman Hamdi Sürücü pointed out that the existing education system is a western product.

"The direction of the education system in Turkey is constantly facing the West. The system put forward by the West is not a "human-centered" model, but a "matter and pleasure-centered" model," he said.

The Conscious Teachers Association (ÖĞ-DER), 6th Ordinary General Assembly was held in Başkent Teachers' House in accordance with the pandemic rules. The General Assembly started with the recitation of the Qur'an.

Afterwards, ÖĞ-DER Chairman Hamdi Sürücü, who took the podium, stated that the existing education system in Turkey faces west.

"No matter what we change in an education system with a Western orientation, the result is the same. It is certain that you cannot go to Mecca by train to Rome. The path of our education train must be towards our faith, morals and culture. First of all, we should determine the direction and way of education and then we should organize the principles of practice," he sad.

THE DIRECTION OF THE EDUCATION SYSTEM MUST BE CHANGED FIRST

Stating that the studies on education are dressing measures, Mr. Sürücü said, "As the Conscious Teachers Association, we do not recommend dressing measures, we suggest basic treatment. First, the direction of the education system must change. The direction of the education system should be our belief and culture. After that, our curricula and books on that belief and culture should be renewed. Studies should be carried out on teacher training models, and the perspective of our teachers should be renewed. There is a mentality and purpose problem in education. It has not been determined what kind of person will be raised with which mentality."

“THE MAIN ISSUE IN EDUCATION IS WHAT YOU PUT IN THE HEART OF THE CHILDREN”

Sürücü, who noted that students could not live their childhood due to the exams placed in front of them, "Education has always been viewed as a success in a few subjects that were accepted as core subjects. A good student perception was created for the students who achieved success in these courses. Unfortunately, we have lost millions of our students on this path. It is not a job that can be achieved with wishes for humanity to find happiness and for generations to grow up as righteous and conscious generations. This is something that can only be achieved with effort and struggle. Our late National Vision Leader Necmettin Erbakan Hodja; He used to say, 'The real issue in education is what you put in the hearts of children.' That's the gist of the issue," he added.
