Turkey's struggle to provide legal and political argument in the eastern Mediterranean continues.

Signed between Libya and Turkey, memorandum of understanding concerning the delimitation of maritime jurisdiction areas of the country led to panic, especially in Greece and the Greek Cypriot side.

According to the agreement between the two countries Libya and Turkey 18.6-mile (29.9 km) continental shelf and exclusive economic zone with a boundary line boundaries were announced.

Making special statements on the subject Strategist Erol Mütercimler spoke to Milli Gazete daily.

"The covenant is now a legal text, until it became a political agreement, Turkey should fight," he said.

"SEAS VERY IMPORTANT FOR TURKEY"

Strategist Erol Mütercimler, "the agreement with Libya is extremely important for Turkey. Our country should give more importance to maritime. The agreement is now only a legal document signed between Libya and Turkey. This legal text needs to be strengthened by making it a political contract. It is very important for the United Nations to recognize this agreement," he added.

Stating that the Exclusive Economic Zone and continental shelf are different from each other, Erol Mütercimler said, "The exclusive economic zone means 200 miles and everything underwater and above sea is the richness of that country. The concept of Blue Homeland, which is frequently used in recent times, has been strengthened with the agreement signed with Libya. The determination of the sea border with Libya, Turkey, Cyprus, Greece, sank like a dagger to the agreement between Israel and Egypt. Now, thanks to this agreement was partitioned area stretching from Greece to Cyprus and Turkey increased dominance in the region," he said.

"A similar agreement must be made with Egypt and Syria"

Mütercimler, "Now we need to make a similar agreement with Turkey, Egypt and Syria. Although it does not seem possible for Syria and Ankara to sit at the table right now, personal problems should be put aside and the interests of the country should be taken into consideration. Syria and Egypt also bring Turkey to make a ruling on the signing of a similar agreement. There is no hate in international relations forever," he added.
