Emphasizing that the D-8 was founded by the leader of Milli Görüş Movement, Prof. Dr. Necmettin Erbakan under the difficult conditions of the period, Kaya warned that the government does not attach importance to the D-8s.
"Turkey should have shown the importance it deserves to the D-8, which it pioneered and which means a lot for both the member states and the world," Kaya said.
Saadet Party Deputy Chairman and Istanbul Deputy Mustafa Kaya made evaluations at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) regarding the establishment anniversary of the D-8, which was formed under the leadership of the leader of Milli Görüş movement, Necmettin Erbakan.
“IT WAS A SITUATION THAT WANTS COURAGE”
Kaya, referring to the difficult process experienced in the establishment of D-8, "Exactly 26 years ago, under the leadership of our 54th Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Turkey, Necmettin Erbakan, 8 developing countries with populations exceeding 60 million; The founding signatures of D-8, which was founded by Turkey, Pakistan, Iran, Nigeria, Egypt, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia, were signed in Istanbul Çırağan Palace. Taking such a bold step at that time required great courage in terms of both internal and external conjuncture. Türkiye succeeded in putting this into practice against all kinds of blocking attempts," Kaya added.
FULLY DIDN'T ACHIEVE ITS OBJECTIVES
Emphasizing that D-8 is the most important gift of the 20th century to the 21st century, Kaya continued as follows;
"D-8 is the embodiment of the 'New World' ideal of the National Vision movement during the 54th Government period. Even at the establishment stage; There is already the Islamic Cooperation Organization. There is no need for such a formation. There were those who said that you are trying in vain. There were those who described this structure as the 'Poor Club'. We have seen those who try to discredit each other as 'the blind and the deaf welcome each other'. There were those who underestimated this formation with the comment 'they can't even hold their second meeting'. We have witnessed those who speak desperately, saying, 'This or that countries will not allow them to develop their trade among themselves'. We have heard those who say, 'These countries cannot attract foreign direct investments'. However, 26 years have passed. The D-8 did not fully achieve its founding goals. Despite everything, despite the systematic obstacles, many summits and committee meetings have been held so far."
"WHY DON'T YOU ACTIVATE D-8?"
Kaya, asked questions about the D-8 to the government.
"You always claim to be the hope of the oppressed. Well, if so, why didn't you activate D-8, such an important organization during your rule? Why did you lose 21 years for nothing? But what has happened has happened, time lost can never be regained. We must look ahead. For this reason, I once again call on the government to do its part for the D-8. Today, world politics has become more differentiated compared to the period when the D-8 was founded. Turkey should show the importance it deserves to the D-8, which is led by itself and means a lot for both the member states and the world," Kaya said.
