During his meeting with the President of the TRNC Ersin Tatar, Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union (EU) Foreign Relations and Security Policy, the parties in Cyprus stated that they do not want the EU to participate in the 5 + 1 meetings to be held with the participation of 3 guarantor countries and the United Nations, "As the Republic of Cyprus, GASC and Greece are members of the EU and we see that they are pursuing their interests and interests in the best possible way in all mechanisms there. Therefore, we said that it would not be right for the EU to participate in the 5 + 1 meetings that will take place in Geneva on April 27-29, with observer status, and we cannot approve this. Because they cannot be expected to be impartial," he said.

President Tatar emphasized that the possibility of a federation in the solution of the Cyprus problem after the Crans Montana talks and the Annan Plan was eliminated, "Now, new ideas should come to the table and a fair, permanent and sustainable agreement should be achieved in Cyprus with the cooperation of two states living side by side, based on sovereign equality," he added.

Tatar also stated that there are implications in the talks to continue with a single state in Cyprus, "Our response to such sentences is that we never sacrifice our national interests and our political stance because of certain promises to be given to us. We have a stance, we have a policy," he added.
