Felicity (Saadet) Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu met with GOOD (IYI) Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener. After the meeting, which lasted about an hour and a half, the duo made a joint statement about the meeting. Speaking about the visit, Karamollaoğlu stated that Akşener's recent attitude and her ideas in politics are valuable. Karamollaoğlu noted that Akşener's renunciation of her presidential candidacy was an important step.
“WE TALKED ON THE PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM”
Akşener also gave information about the details of the meeting.
"We talked about the parliamentary system. But for now, the vice presidents of the Nation Alliance are discussing principles. The views of the parties on the subject will be put forward first, and a joint text will be formed on this and the words of the steps we will take in these elections," she said.
“WE NEED TO MEET AS PARTIES”
Karamollaoğlu continued his words by stating that the problems in our country are increasing day by day.
"The solution to these problems is achieved with sound policies. There is more than a year and a half for the elections under normal conditions, but it seems that Mr. President will make some changes regarding the election laws after the parliament is opened. It is clear that they made these changes to protect their short-term interests. However, the recent atmosphere in the public opinion is that no matter what changes are made, the citizens will not be comfortable unless their problems are solved. Citizens no longer want words, they want action. For this reason, the upcoming process is very important, and as parties, we need to be in contact and in talks. Mr. Erdogan sees the elections, which are held every five years, as an audit. Auditing is done routinely and the institutions that will do it are clear. However, none of these institutions can function properly today. I think that the citizens will put an end to this system in the elections," he said.
“I DID NOT EXPECT A SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT FROM SOCHI”
Speaking about the Sochi talks between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin the previous day, Karamollaoğlu said, "I did not expect big statements from Sochi. A session is held in which state officials do not attend. It is impossible to understand this. No country's president talks to another country's president alone without delegations. Delegations also take part in the talks. This is the atmosphere created by the presidential system. He says 'I exist' and says 'no one can share this with me'. He says, 'My employees are also responsible for implementing the decisions I make.'
AKŞENER: “OUR CONSULTATIONS WILL CONTINUE”
Expressing her satisfaction with the visit, IYI Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener said, "We had the opportunity to consult on important issues of the country. Thank you for your visits. These consultations will of course continue. We talked about the parliamentary system. However, for now, the vice presidents of the nation alliance are discussing on principles. The views of the parties on the subject will be put forward first, and a common text will be created based on this, and it will be the text of the steps we will take in these elections."
“WHAT I SAY IS CLEAR”
Akşener clarified the statement that she made in the past days, "I am a candidate for Prime Minister".
"I pointed out that a system should be discussed. Everyone is very curious about the candidate of the Nation Alliance. Earlier, I said in a program that the 13th president will be the Nation Alliance, let them take the election decision. After the Nation Alliance candidate becomes president, the one-man tutelage will be replaced by the parliamentary system. For this reason, I said that I would not be a presidential candidate, but a candidate for the prime ministership of a parliamentary system in which my party would be the first party. What I have said is so clear and precise," she added.
